Black Lives Matter

Advait Shinde
A solid black rectangle

To our GoGuardian educators, students, and community:

We are heartbroken by the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and many before them who have lost their lives and have been denied access and opportunity because of the color of their skin. We firmly stand against the legacy of systemic racism, bias, and oppression. Black Lives Matter.

GoGuardian believes education is the highest point of leverage for improving society. To fulfill that mission, we pursue the facilitation of safe and equitable digital learning.

As an organization, we reaffirm our commitments to both our customers and communities that have suffered from centuries of systemic oppression; and, we know we can do better. As a result, we will take action in two areas:

  1. Employee Experience: We will commit to further educating ourselves, reviewing our practices and programs, and holistically improving the employment experience. We will elevate our internal task force to further strengthen our culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  2. Corporate Citizenship and Product Integration: We recognize that there are many schools, organizations, and efforts here in Los Angeles and around the nation that work toward racial equity and our shared belief that Black Lives Matter. As a result, we will look for ways to meaningfully increase our level of corporate citizenship and engagement with organizations fighting systemic oppression and racial injustice. This includes intentionally establishing relationships with external experts and partners that hold us accountable for building equitable and inclusive digital learning experiences.

We do not have all the answers, and this is just a starting point. Over the next four weeks, we will build and share a concrete plan with measurable goals that enable us to achieve these critical initiatives. GoGuardian would not be able to effectively serve schools without the incredible and diverse voices in our own organization and community, and we have a responsibility to uphold our commitment to them now more than ever.

No student should grow up in a world with the type of injustice we have witnessed, and we stand in solidarity with the Black community as they are experiencing unimaginable pain.

Sincerely,
