GoGuardian Appoints Patricia Bothwell as Vice President and General Manager for Safety & Productivity

Bothwell will lead teams responsible for the success of GoGuardian Admin and Teacher solutions

LOS ANGELES – Sept. 2, 2022 – GoGuardian, the leading education technology company providing simple, proven solutions to create effective, engaging, and safer learning environments, today announced the appointment of Patricia Bothwell to the role of Vice President and General Manager for Safety & Productivity. Bothwell, a software executive with more than 15 years of experience in product innovation and strategy, will oversee all aspects of GoGuardian’s Admin and Teacher solutions. These products each support more than 13 million students across the United States.

In her new role, Bothwell will lead teams responsible for all functions that make products successful in GoGuardian’s Safety & Productivity business unit, from user research and design to engineering, go-to-market, and more. To further the success of the widely used Admin and Teacher products, Bothwell’s main priority within her first six months will be driving new and innovative solutions that address emerging needs of educators and students.

“Patricia’s extensive experience in product management and her keen attention to detail will allow us to make fast and effective business decisions during this time of rapid growth,” said Sharad Gupta, Chief Product Officer, GoGuardian. “Her passion for education and interest in utilizing technology to enhance learning experiences for students directly aligns with our vision and mission at GoGuardian.”

The Safety & Productivity products Bothwell leads include: GoGuardian Admin, the most complete K-12 web filter, which uses advanced machine learning to create more effective learning environments by allowing educators to block harmful, inappropriate, or distracting content; and GoGuardian Teacher, which supports meaningful and effective 1:1 digital instruction between educators and students.

“GoGuardian is in a position to meaningfully support students and educators at a time they need it most — recovering from the lingering effects of the pandemic, catching up on unfinished learning, and helping to make digital learning environments safer and more productive,” said Bothwell. “I’m excited to help evolve and expand these products to ensure we are not only meeting the needs of our customers and students today, but also understanding and anticipating what may be on the horizon tomorrow.”

GoGuardian is in the midst of rapid growth, with Bothwell being one of several experienced leaders to join the team within the past year. The organization is also on the heels of several strategic mergers and acquisitions, including Pear Deck in November 2020, Edulastic in 2021, and, most recently, TutorMe in June 2022. GoGuardian's solutions are some of the most widely-used educational technologies in the United States, reaching nearly one out of every two public K-12 students nationwide.

Prior to GoGuardian, Bothwell served as Vice President of Product Management at Avalara, where she was responsible for Fiscal and Emerging Opportunities, including mergers, acquisitions, and international expansion. She also previously served as Vice President of Strategy & Group Special Projects at Princess Cruises, and earlier led the Global Product Analytics team at PayPal. She began her career at Boston Consulting Group.
