4 Math Tools for your Classroom's Chromebooks

Math doesn't always have to be hard. In fact, it can be innovative and fun with the right tools.

There are many great apps and websites available for at-home and classroom use to give students the jump they need to excel in math and to give teachers the resources they need for ensuring that their students are always at their best. Here are a few of our favorite tools to assist students in developing higher skills in math.

GeoGebra

First we have GeoGebra, which can be downloaded for free from the Chrome Webstore. It’s your one-stop-shop for all things math for all grade levels. With a user-friendly interface, GeoGebra comes in many languages and is flexible to any curriculum or project. It brings spreadsheets, geometry, graphing, calculus, algebra, and statistics all together. Share the resources, interactive learning, and created resources on GeoGebra with anyone over the internet!

Desmos

Desmos is an in-class HTML5 graphing calculator that you can use for free! Designed by teachers and built with love, this powerful tool is meant to help students explore their curiosity and experience the beauty that math has to offer. Desmos has a huge selection of fun activities for you to choose from. “Central Park” is an activity that explores Algebra, expressions, linears, and modeling. “Alligator Investigation” explores least squares, correlation, regression, scatter plots, graphing, and statistics. There are many activities to choose from, giving students various ways to approach math topics.

Woot Math

If you need a better understanding of fractions and decimals, then Woot Math is the tool for you. Woot Match is an interactive and highly engaging digital tool for your classroom, grades 3-7. It generates and assesses thousands of standards-aligned problems that are authored and carefully reviewed by master classroom teachers and leading math education researchers to meet each individual student's needs. The teacher dashboard is detailed and offers reviews and reports online and offline. It's perfect for reaching out if a student needs more one-on-one with their learning.

Math Playground

Finally, Math Playground can make playing online games in class be pretty cool! With math games based on addition, subtraction, pre-algebra, ratio and percent, multiplication, division, and geometry, grades 1-6 can take advantage of these fun and colorful games that are not only fun, but also educational.
