Student data privacy
Our dedicated Privacy Team works across all divisions of the company to implement proactive privacy protections that put schools and students first.
Your control & ownership
Schools and districts that partner with GoGuardian own and control their Personal Student Information, and can request deletion at any time.
GoGuardian does not use Personal Student Information beyond the purposes explicitly outlined in our agreements.
Schools and districts control their own settings, such as where and when GoGuardian's services are active, and which websites are allowed or off-limits when using GoGuardian Admin.

Security & protection
We apply a combination of technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to protect student and school data.
We use military-grade TLS encryption across our products and websites to protect personal information in transit.
We restrict access to Personal Student Information on a "need-to-know" basis.
All employees who need to access Personal Student Information are trained to perform their job functions effectively and with great respect for privacy.
GoGuardian is certified for having an Information Security Management System (ISMS) compliant with ISO 27001:2022 and SOC 2.
Proactive privacy practices
We are independently certified as FERPA and COPPA compliant by iKeepSafe, meaning schools always maintain certain rights over their student data.
We constantly monitor state and federal laws to ensure our policies meet – and often exceed – legal requirements.

What we never do
GoGuardian does not sell, trade, or rent student personal information under any circumstances.
We do not use Personal Student Information to market or advertise to students, caregivers, or anyone else.
We do not process student data except as explicitly stated under contract with schools to perform specific educational functions.
Transparency in action
We believe students, teachers, caregivers, and families deserve to know when and how GoGuardian is being used. That's why we've built clear indicators and notifications into our products.
Visual indicators on devices
Schools can transparently indicate when GoGuardian Admin is active on school-managed accounts, devices, and internet connections.
On devices where GoGuardian Teacher is being used, an additional icon in the browser bar indicates a student is in an active GoGuardian Teacher session.
These notifications help ensure students understand when they are in a learning environment that is being observed.
