Heritage Middle School

What better way for students to experience the conversations, debates and discourse that occurred during the Second Continental Congress, then to transform my room to resemble the most famous room at Independence Hall.

Transforming my classroom instantly boosts engagement.

From the green tablecloths draped over the desks, to the "candlelit" room, students will be transformed back to 1776 to discuss why we should break up with Great Britain. Using their feather quills, students will draft their own break up letter, citing the reasons they need their independence.

This project not only requires students to work together, but also demonstrates how people with differing opinions can work together to achieve a common outcome.
