What is a PAC File?
A proxy auto-config (PAC) file contains a javascript function to tell browsers which proxy server should be used for a specific page or site. They are commonly used for URLs that regularly receive enterprise and intranet traffic. This is important for security purposes as it sends visiting traffic to the proxy server while secured users are sent directly through, limiting the chance of overloading secure servers.
