We love open source, and we love sans serif, so when we discovered the Open Sans font family it was love at first sight. Open Sans is a humanist sans serif typeface designed by Steve Matteson, Type Director of Ascender Corp, and released in 2011.
Open Sans was designed with an upright stress, open forms and a neutral, yet friendly appearance. It was optimized for print, web, and mobile interfaces, and has excellent legibility characteristics in its letterforms, even at smaller sizes. Perfect!
While Open Sans is available in a variety of weights and styles, we rely on white space to enhance legibility and create a visual hierarchy rather than use variants that are italicized or bold.
